Tech For Seva is a two day conference in Pune where all the three stakeholders i.e. innovators, corporates & NGOs will jointly share their success stories, problems and will try to come up with some partnership proposals. It is a platform allowing academic & research institutions, individual & corporate innovators, NGOs & grass root operators to come together on a common platform and share their success stories and problems that need scientific solutions to help the bottom of the pyramid of our country to share the fruits of development.
Initiatives like ‘Tech for Seva’ will pave way for more balanced policy initiatives by combining ‘top-down’ and ‘bottom-up’ approaches, hoped ex AEC chairman Dr. Anil Kakodkar.
Dr. Kakodkar delivered keynote address at this inauguration. He said, “Top-down approaches of policy initiatives are generally very rigid and hence makes implementation difficult as against this the ‘bottom-up’ initiatives many time lack resources, perspective for scalability etc. So, a combination of both the initiatives facilitated by conferences like these would make good policies and take care of implementation also.”
The inauguration ceremony was started by Mr. Ravindra Wanjarwadkar who gave a brief idea about the Concept of Tech for Seva.
This was followed by official inauguration of the conference by Dr. Anil Kakodkar where he unveiled the abstract book and declared the Conference Open.
Mr. S.K. Jain, Chairman of Marhatta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) explained the role of corporates in Tech for Seva. He also said that due to change in Company Laws which have now made it compulsory for corporates to contribute to CSR, such an initiative is taking place at an appropriate time.
Then, Mr. Pramod Kulkarni, CEO of Seva Vardhini addressed the audience about the involvement of Tech for Seva at NGO level. He pressed on the issue of carrying out knowledge initiatives in rural areas.
Mr. Ganesh Natrajan, Head of Zensar Technologies spoke about how corporates should not be interested in only raising funds but also in the process of its utilization in a beneficial way. He said that it is his strong belief that ‘Tech will expand Seva’
Youth’s participation was evident in the student competitions held the previous day where more than 600 students participated. Out of them 20 finalists were shortlisted and they wil be given a chance to continue their work on respective projects in the form of internships in various Corporates.
